HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

Human resource development is an integral part of overall development of any sector. Training and skill development are continuous needs and hence requires regular interventions. The Successful implementation of the scheme/programme is critically dependent upon the capabilities of all stakeholders and as such warrants highest priority. Therefore a comprehensive policy in training and capacity building is important to efficiently address the sectoral needs and strengthening the extension mechanism and initiating its reforms.

Below are some of the training needs of the department for refreshing/upgrading the knowledge of the professionals as well as for other stake holders:

  • Skill development in hill aquaculture /high altitude fish farming with special reference to indigenous and exotic varieties of fish species mainly brown trout and rainbow trout .
  • Skill development in breeding, hatchery management and culture technique of indigenous fish Mahseer, Schizothorax species etc.
  • Capacity building in breeding and Culture of ornamental fish species of indigenous/exotic verities.
  • Skill development in management of reservoir fisheries, culture technique in swamp/ marsh areas, beels and lakes (Both high & low altitude)
  • Capacity building in running water fish culture (RWFC), fish culture in irrigation ponds and canals, fish culture in WRC fields and integrated farming.
  • Capacity building in organizing fisheries co-operatives, SHG’S and its operationalization.
  • Capacity building in fish disease identification and its integrated management systems.
  • Capacity building in post harvesting management technology with special reference to fish processing technology.
  • Capacity building in fisheries conservation and management of beels lakes and riverine resources.
  • Awareness and impact of climate change with special reference to fish and Fisheries, and its means and ways of mitigation.
  • Skill development in documentation of success stories, data collection, mass awareness, public relation etc.
